Washington hearing on Montana oil rate
R J Coughlin president of Westland Oil stated the Interstate Commerce Commission set January 16 for a formal hearing in Washington on the freight rate case against Westland. The proposal would cut gasoline freight from the Mid continental field to Northeast Montana by about two and a half cents per gallon. A major blaze in Bainville last evening destroyed the Saveway store and adjacent structures including the Bain hotel the Bluebird theatre a restaurant and a pool hall. Firefighters faced heavy flames from an overheated stove with risk to the depot and limited protection hindered quick containment. Total losses not yet determined.
