Bill on allotment eyed by farm groups in Washington

Washington December 13 an emergency farm plan to boost 1933 incomes through domestic allotment for wheat cotton tobacco and hogs was submitted to the house agriculture committee as a tentative draft. It envisions certificates valued by fixed rates and binding contracts with production quotas to redeem them, potentially repealing the farm boards stabilization powers.

Culbertson Bridge Start Planned By May First

The state highway commission plans to start construction on the Missouri river bridge near Culbertson by May 1 or early summer. Tall Christmas Tree Adorns Main Street

The Lions club and partners placed a 30 foot tree on Main Street opposite the old post office. Great Northern Railway donated the tree, Charlie Howe and volunteers planted it, and Oliver Brandon lit the lights with Montana Dakota Power. No Santa program this year, welfare work supported by the Women’s club department.

The Way Back Home Christmas Eve Special brings Seth Parker to the Liberty theater for Friday and Saturday showings. Geo H Breckenridge Visits From The Coast

George H Breckenridge, former Wolf Point resident, revisits town for a stay through spring. He worked as a contractor and foreman during Wolf Point’s growth from 1917 to 1920, building residences and the Sherman hotel stories and the Motor Sales building. He has lived in eastern Oregon and Seattle since 1920, and his wife died about two years ago. He traveled here from Weyburn Sack and will remain to avoid a mountain drive.

Army Clothing Distribution to Indians at Frazer and Poplar

A camload of army goods arrived at Poplar Monday for Indian distribution. Subagent K. G. Slaugh and crew distributed clothing at Frazer and Wolf Point, with further distribution planned at Box Elder and Poplar Saturday. About 150 adult recipients in the area received items including underwear, socks, shoes, leggings, caps, mittens, shirts, overcoats, and coats. The goods are new and reportedly of high officer quality. Children’s clothing will arrive soon for distribution.

According to the Poplar Standard Mr. and Mrs. D. G Carpenter and slaughters Tuzel and Eilenbel enjoyed a pleasant trip to Horel California, where they will spend the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Riggin. Mrs. Riggin will be remembered as Irone Carpenter.

McFadden Threat to Impeach Hoover Stirs House Debate

Washington December 13 The House rejected by 361 to votes Rep McFadden Pennsylvannia Republican impeach Hoover for betraying the country on war debts. The resolution accused Hoover of violating the law and nullifying contracts with foreign debtors. It was tabled on motion by Poll with opposition from several Democrats.

Oscar Abrahamson Dies After Sudden Illness

Oscar Abrahamson died suddenly in Galen where he had been treated for more than a year. He had recently left the sanitarium for a short period and appeared improved during a visit to Wolf Point. Funeral services were held in Valley City North Dakota, his birthplace, where relatives and Mrs Abrahamson’s family reside.

Catholic Sunday School Christmas Program Dec 21

The Catholic Sunday school will hold its Christmas program at the K. C. ball on Wednesday evening December 21 at eight o'clock. Each teacher leads the class in the program with Mrs. Severson directing the Christmas music. A cordial invitation is extended to all who wish to attend.

South School Pupils Make Toys for Christmas Boxes

During the noon hour pupils at South School district No 3 craft toys for Christmas boxes to aid poor Wolf Point families. Bernard Geisen teaches the class as the Women's Club philanthropic department coordinates the community effort. Fourteen inches of snow fell in Great Falls this week causing several highways to be blocked.

Montana exhibitor Thomas B. Smith of Corvallis claimed the barley crown and reserve championship at the 1932 barley show, marking Ravalli County's third straight win. County Red Cross Chapter Changes at Poplar Meeting

County and local residents gathered Friday in Poplar for a Red Cross meeting as Culbertson chairwoman Mrs. Olla H. Smith stepped down after 16 years. A Poplar shift of chapter headquarters was proposed. officers and directors were elected with GL Merrill as a nominal chair candidate who declined. Also reported: Clarence Nosey of Medicine Lake injured in a school-curve auto crash near Wolf Point. Nasey treated for shoulder and other injuries.
