Tragic Northside Fire Claims Two Children George and Dorothy

In a December fire on the Northside, four and five year olds George and Dorothy Gross perished after their mother, warned by a coal wagon driver, found them on a couch amid smoke and gas. Coroner's inquest heard testimonies on ignition, timing, and rescue attempts, with funeral services set for Saturday.

Cuts His Visit Short In Montana Return From Clinton Trip

J J McMahon of Sand Creek returns home to Montana after a three week stay with relatives in Clinton Town. He left expecting to stay months but found Montana weather preferable saying Town snow banks reach ten feet and the cold was hard on him. Clinton had been his home for 97 years though he hadn’t visited 35 years. He and a brother he visited may come to Montana next summer.

Oswego Boy Shot In Pool Room Accident

About 15 year old Oswego resident Ben McClammy was shot in the leg when a companion was cleaning a gun that went off accidentally in a pool room. He was taken to Wolf Point for surgical attention.

Carroll Children Die From Stove Explosion Burns

James Carroll received word that Emmett Carroll's two children died from burns after a stove exploded. One girl died Wednesday and the other died this morning. The mother also was burned. The older child was about 20 years old and the younger about 6 months. Details are scarce. The Carroll family previously lived in Wolf Point and may now be in Carrington North Dakota.

40 Percent Seal Money For Milk Fund

The 40 percent of Christmas seal proceeds stay local to fund milk for undernourished children. A dollar buys ten glasses of milk, aiding health at school. The American Legion Auxiliary leads with Mrs J L Jensen overseeing sales at Norbys Cooks Huxsels and Pennys.

Stephens Family Returns to Wolf Point Home

Mr and Mrs R L Stephens and their two children returned Sunday from Butte and plan to make Wolf Point their home again. He formerly ran Stephens Cafe and sold it to Tom Kurokawa a year ago, living in Butte since. They rented the Pat Mulfex house on the Northside.

Roosevelt Co. Ships Turkeys to Bainville Pool Auction

Roosevelt County growers delivered 5400 dressed turkeys to Bainville and Froid under the Sheridan County Poultry association. Manager H G Bolster reported over $6,000 distributed to growers across two days with large checks, notably Mrs William Ross who sold 100 birds for $4133. The pool paid about 4 to 8 cents more per pound than direct or North Dakota shipments, drawing growers from Colbertson Portar Brockton and Wolf Point. Sheridan County plans expansion to include all northeastern Montana turkey raisers next year.

Christmas Matinee Raises Generous Donations at Liberty Theatre

Ben Anderson Sublets The Circle Mail Route

Ben Anderson sublets the Circle mail route to Ed Goolsby and Bob Steffensen with Steffensen on the north end and Goolsby on the south. A meeting point is set at Goolsby’s farm and the arrangement runs until early April or until the truck is usable again. Anderson plans to cut the route in two using horses for continued service after the truck issue.
