Havere Dec 6 In district court Judge Rose directed a verdict of not guilty for Harry Stiner charged with the death of Geo Stam baugh after defense argued justifiable homicide. Three eye witnesses including Stiner and Louis Morris supported self defense.

Home Made Radio Set Listens In On Havana

A rancher 10 miles north of Havre Joseph Larsen uses a self built radio connected with Havre Broadcasting to hear stations from Atlanta to Hawaii. His younger brother Harold recently got supplies to build his own set. The two, sons of Mrs L J Larsen, relied on farm materials and parts from F A Buttrey. A baby daughter arrived for Mr and Mrs George Davis in Havre.

Dr. J L Atkinson of Poplar seeks a temporary restraining order to block moving Roosevelt County seat to Wolf Point arguing 15 of 37 precincts reported illegal votes. The filing cites miscounted ballots and nonqualified electors amid a heated dispute over Wolf Point’s bid to become county seat.

Pioneer Lady Passes in Volt Community

Mrs. Clarence Hall died at home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Clayton parlors with Rev. A. J. Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood cemetery. The Hall family moved to Montana in 1916 from Carrington North Dakota and resided in Volt since. She was 43 and survived by her husband amid community sympathy.

Havre Business Visitor Spends Day in City

W. A. Russel of Havre visited the city yesterday for business, meeting local merchants and assessing market opportunities. He spoke with several firms about potential transactions and returned home in the evening.

Helena Dec 4 The Associated Press Montana's yearly tuberculosis death rate fell from 118 to 59 per 100 000 since the Montana Tuberculosis association was organized seven years ago Governor Dixon urges support for the 1922 seal sale noting the decline to 59 1 in 1921 while contrasting with Idaho 32 Wyoming 27 Utah 29 3 South Dakota 10 8 and North Dakota 23 4. He stresses the loss of life among ages 18 to 45 and the need for continued effort by citizens.

County Agent Reports Benefits of Crops Project Across County

The Crops Project, a major Farm Bureau and Extension effort, split into Pure and Improved Seed Tillage and Corn Production. Results include 2600 bu of seed from five growers, 12000 bu from twenty seed growers, ten meetings, one tillage demo, home made tillage models for each community, increased corn acreage, improved corn practices, and broader, better tilled crop growth across the county.
