Water Survey by Dr Perry in Wolf Point Area

Dr Eugene S Perry chief geologist for Montana bureau of mines and geology surveyed artesian wells from Wilder to Wolf Point. The Wolf Point well tested at 1065 feet with 64 degree water and 59 psi pressure yielding about 50 gallons per minute. Water likely sheet flow from the source with potential for irrigation but high mineral content may limit use. valuable for livestock and laundering. Local well sits on land donated by First National Bank for a bathing pool.

Joint Mission Festival at Lund and Wolf Point

The joint mission festival of Our Savior Lutheran near Vida and Christ Lutheran of Wolf Point will be at the bridge on Sunday August 28 with three open air services at 11 1 30 and 2 30. Rev M Cohrs of Chinook Montana will give English and German addresses and Rev RE Kleiden will speak on The Call of the Hour Turn to God. A mission exhibit booth and The Church at Work lecture are planned. Dinner will be served after the morning service and transportation to the grove is arranged from the M E basement church at 10 20 1 00 and 2 00 o'clock.

Camp near Glasgow girls enjoy a wet but pleasant stay

A group of young girls camped near Glasgow for several days and returned Wednesday enjoying the outing despite rainy weather. The party included Lucille Severson Corrine Lowe Doris Rogers Pernice Lovejoy Leora Simon Eleanor and Peggy Carlson and Mrs. Carlson.

Travelers Reach Ireland on June Weekend

In Ireland the party aboard the W. PT. Travelers arrives Friday evening June 17. Miss Donaghue hears a talk by Bishop Schermer praising Theresa Newman as a paralytic saint who has performed miracles. A lively party follows with singing and dancing late into the night. The next day June 18 guests write letters from Galway and some play whist. Mrs Barwise wins a small prize.

Richland County Fair to Showcase Montana Agriculture Exhibit

The Richland County Fair announces a major agricultural exposition in the Community Exhibit building September 12 to 16. Superintendent A KR McChesney oversees a condensed display of grains vegetables fruits and more with prizes. Entries close September 8 at 1 PM. Olson Family in Car Accident Near Kremlin

Mrs Frank Olson and SrauseD returned from Sweetgrass with granddaughter Yvonne Sterbide. Their car struck loose gravel at Kremlin and rolled over. All occupants were shaken and bruised but none seriously hurt. The vehicle was badly damaged and required a new radiator to continue.

Rheumatism slows PHIL DOUGHERTY at F U Elevator

P R Dougherty, manager of the F U Elevator, was kept from work for a week by a painful rheumatic attack and has returned to his office though not fully active. John Jeffery of Williston filled in during the layoff. Local markets details follow including several grades of butter eggs and poultry prices.

McCone County Ball Teams Sweep Doubleheader

Sunday at Circle hall the Circle team defeated the Wolves 9 to 4 while the Vida Juniors beat the local Wolf Cubs 5 to 4. The Cubs were formed specially for the game and Dad Kearney was away on vacation. Wolf Point plans a return match at Circle Sunday.

Three Poplar men jailed for theft of government car

Three young men from Poplar Everett Whitright Howard Trinder and Dave Rena are jailed on federal charges of stealing a government automobile around Stampede time. The wrecked car was found at the Poplar bridge and had been used by the Indian school nurse. Whitright is also linked to gas theft in Poplar.

Local Wheat Brings Top Price at Terminal

Hadle Nyland shipped a car of choice wheat from his farm west of town to Minneapolis. The 61 pound to the bushel lot tested 17.30 for protein, the highest local test yet. The car sold at Tic and Nyland netted between 48 and 50 cents a bushel.

Car Drives Into Water Hole Near Wolf Point

Westfall of Poplar lost control Saturday evening and drove his car into a water hole a mile east of Wolf Point bridge. The vehicle suffered a broken windshield and front-wheel damage after he left the ditch road and attempted to reach the highway near the railroad crossing.

Mr and Mrs Abrahamson Home From Sanitarium Visit

Oscar Abrahamson, long a patient at the state sanitarium in Galen, has returned home for a vacation with Mrs Abrahamson. He is not discharged and plans to return to Galen to continue treatment for a lasting lung condition.

Intercity golf meet pits Poplar Glasgow Wolf Point clubs

Golfers from Poplar Glasgow and Wolf Point clubs, 32 players, competed in a 18 hole inter city match on the Poplar course. Notable scores included Burgess 80 Erickson 88 Randolph 89 Marley 88 Foot 90 Chapman 91 McGhee 92 Phillips 94 Mountjoy 94 Hiller 95 Hoffman 45 on nine holes.

District court law and motion session presided by Judge Paul awarded Bessie D Lundquist damages of 75 dollars and costs of 9.40 with a signed decree. Anna Karnakran granted a divorce from James Karnakran and may resume her maiden name Anna Rolfink. Five year old Archibald placed in custody of the father. No administration letters issued for the T J Delahunt estate, leaving matter to L M Clayton.

Roosevelt criticises Hoover in opening campaign speech

Governor Roosevelt launched his road campaign for the presidency at Columbia on the 20th urging tighter banking rules and revealing securities selling disclosures. He blamed the Hoover administration for a speculative boom and misled the public about the crash while calling for stricter regulation of securities exchanges and banks. Frank Diserly and Charles Davis of Poplar were jailed for gas theft, each sentenced to 90 days and a fine of 80.

County League Flag Protest Lets Culbertson Face Forfeit

Poplar protested a game against Culbertson last Sunday, 5 to 2 in Culbertson’s favor, claiming Culbertson used a Medicine Lake catcher listed late. League officials met in Brockton and offered Culbertson a replay without the protested player. refusal would forfeit the game and make Poplar pennant winners.

North Dakota man jailed for theft of gun

Ray Castell, 28, arrested by sheriff's deputies after getting off a freight train. He was wanted in Williston for stealing a Belgian made gun from the Great Northern freight warehouse. Sentenced to one year in the state penitentiary. When picked up Castell had no home address and planned to sell the gun in Great Falls to buy food. Another man was arrested but not connected to the theft.

The South Kansas State Wine girls, claiming the national baseball championship, meet the Wolf Point Wolver in a 4 30 p m Thursday game at Wolf Point. It promises a serious, ladylike contest with bat throwing and hair pulling barred.

Glasgow booster caravan to open highway ceremony

A Glasgow caravan with a 56 piece band will stop in Culbertson Brockton Poplar Wolf Point Oswego Frazer Nashua on September 3 to advertise a highway opening celebration. The event marks the completion of the Naghwa Glasgow road tying Twin Cities to Glacier Park with speeches by Leavitt Brinkton Hasel baker and Warden and music by local bands.

Infant dies after christening gown worn at Friday night

A baby girl wore a christening gown on Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd De Witt present, but she lived only a few minutes. Mrs. DeWitt was very ill but is improving. Miss Inga Finstad traveled from North Dakota to care for her.

Rain and hail damage crops across wide area

Severe storms lashed a broad region with heavy rain and hail last week. Wheat losses were reported north of Oswego and near Banarad hall, while the Froid area saw basements flooded and wind and hail damage to buildings and crops. Overall effects included both destruction and beneficial rainfall.

Shetland Pony Prize At Richland County Fair

Richland county Fair board purchased a frisky coal black two year old Shetland pony to be awarded to an elementary school child on opening day September 12. Tickets with coupons will be mailed to all schools and extra tickets kept at the gate for those without mailings. The winner must be on the grounds for the drawing.

Two cars of wool were shipped on Wednesday. The sale price was about 10 cents per pound, higher than recent wool rates.
