Northern Montana college unit wins state backing at Havre

After sixteen years a Havre driven drive succeeds in establishing a University of Montana unit in Havre. The State Board of Education approved fall start and two years of academic work at Havre with cost estimates discussed by Chancellor and lawmakers from across northern Montana. Old Ironsides film recreates Tripoli battle in detail

Wheat clubs for boys and girls in Roosevelt county

Roosevelt county launches its first Wheat club for youths over 12. Members plant at least 6 acres of a standard grain, keep records on seed cost and profits, and compete on yield quality and cost while guided by the county extension agent. Lost Girls Reunited After Dawson Street Misadventure

Three and four year olds Laurel Jean Munro and Betty Wendt wandered from home near Dawson street. After more than an hour missing, local helper Sis Fromduah found them and brought them to the Marshall home for care. Betty had gone without supper as neighbors and officials coordinated a safe return.

Wander Lust Grips Trio Of Young Gents

Three small lads found aboard a freight train near Williston were taken to Deputy Seglias. Interrogations showed they belonged in Williston. They were held at the county jail for guidance as officers warned of dangers faced by runaways. One boy had local ties and another was the stepson of a local freight worker. The man who brought them in returned them to the City of Opportunity.

Roosevelt County Fair Plans Growth for 1929

The Fair board met April 1 to outline plans for expanding the Roosevelt County Fair in 1929. They propose adding buildings including a livestock barn a grand stand and a fence with a new well. Gardner Found Insane After County Hearing

Bridge Spur and Highway Work Progress Near Macon

Steady progress is reported on the spur from the Great Northern tracks near Macon to the Missouri river bridge site. Grading is light and completion is expected soon. The Great Northern will deliver bridge material at the spur junction, with the bridge company handling it from there. The Lalonde Construction Company, contractor for the federal highway linking the bridge to the Roosevelt highway, began work this week and is trucking materials to establish camp.

A new French stencil process promises richer color in motion pictures, showcased in Loves of Casanova to be shown at the Liberty Theatre on Saturday April 13. City election yields lone candidates in three wards

Last Monday’s city election showed little campaign activity. In ward one E. J. Prendergast won as the sole candidate for alderman, ward two elected James Alrick, and ward three had no official candidate with voters writing in existing aldermen. L. Jensen was re-elected city treasurer. Saturday a school district election will fill one board seat with J. R. Burgess seeking reelection. Balloting occurs at the high school and Volt School.
