Tape Rescue in February 1831 Off New York Coast
In a February 1831 night a frostbitten fight brig L lay at anchor inside the Hook when a sharp cold gale drove crew to action. Larkin and the captain rescue two children stranded on a cake of ice, rowing fifteen minutes to reach them, then warming both youths with coats and the crew returning to safety. The survivors were later returned to their grateful parents as the ice drifted away.

Milwaukee Bid Bill for Railroad to Mississippi Passes
In committee of the whole this afternoon several bills were debated the Milwaukee bid to build a railroad to the Mississippi was approved on third reading despite opposition from Mr. Chese ort who argued it unconstitutional and unjust tax to support private speculation. Mr Smith supported the measure saying many real estate owners favored it and it would benefit Milwaukee and the state. The Wisconsin Bridge Company incorporation bill passed on third reading with suspended rules. A bill organizing Town of Charlestown in Calumet County was read third time and passed with an amendment after rule suspension. Senate adjourned.
