Death of Capt Charles P Whittle Civil War veteran and Boston manufacturer
Capt Charles P Whittle, a Civil War veteran and Boston furniture maker, died at 97 Locust Street after five weeks of illness. Born in Charlestown, he fought at Bull Run and later ran a Bowker Street show case business. Funeral services were held at his home and then at the Charlestown post hall. Ww. Cc. Skaggs led arrangements. Mrs. George H Livingstone of 92 Lincoln Street died after a long illness. She was born in Prince Edward Island and lived in Chelsea and Winthrop. Funeral services were at her home with Rev. Frederick M White officiating. her son and daughters were noted for social life and theatre. Interment at Winthrop cemetery.

Fire at Shore Drive House Endangers Residents at 1 Shore Drive
An early morning blaze at 1 Shore Drive, home to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick A. Estes, trapped occupants on the second floor. Mr. Estes woke to smoke and led others outside. Mrs. Bold and Mr. Barrett were rescued amid heavy smoke as Bold helped Barrett to a roof escape. Fire officials report no serious injuries, with estimated loss around $2000, believed from electric wiring between partitions.

Fire Hits Adams House Kitchen In Night Blaze
A cigarette probable start sparked a blaze in the kitchen of Adams House at 29 Trident Avenue just before midnight Wednesday. Eliot Hayes saw the fire as he headed home. the house, closed for the season, sustained about 25 in damage before firefighters extinguished it. George Harris, owner, noted he and several men were there yesterday afternoon to discuss material sale, with the cigarette thought to smoulder for hours.
