Winthrop Woman’s Club Holds 10th Anniversary Gentlemen’s Night
About 160 guests attended the 10th anniversary of the Winthrop Woman's Club and the annual gentlemen's night at the Ocean View Hotel. The event began with a 9 o'clock banquet, followed by a musical and literary program and a reception from 7:80 to 8:90. The receiving line included club officers and founders. The program featured piano duets, solos, chorus, and readings, with performances by members and guests from out of town. The library announced new books and noted open hours for weekday access.

Winthrop Co operative Bank Declares Quarterly Dividend
At the November 16 meeting the board approved a regular quarterly dividend of 11 4 per cent at a 5 per cent annual rate on all shares outstanding and added to surplus. The fourth series opens December 11 with about 500 shares issued in prior series and expected similar uptake.

Winthrop High School defeated West Roxbury High 54 to 16 in Friday afternoon action. Mahoney led Winthrop with 11 points as Piallaque Anderson Kimball and Howland also contributed in a wide spread scoring effort. Referee Crowley and umpire Howland oversaw the 20 minute halves with 800 in attendance.

Spectacular Fire Destroys Steamer O H Northam at Wood Island
The steamer O H Northam once known as queen of the Sound fleet burned at Wood Island Park East Boston on Monday night. Junk dealers Thomas Butler and Florence Nolan bought the vessel last July for about 11000 with salvage likely bringing around 5000. Built 33 years ago for the New Haven line the Northam later served the Old Colony Steamboat Company and was tied up in New York during the 1904 beef strike. After demolition work began the ship was moved to Boston. machinery and fittings were sold and the remaining iron had to be burned to remove usable parts. The vessel had rested at McPhee's wharf East Boston until towed to Wood Island four weeks earlier. During a gale on November 6 it drifted from its moorings toward Harbor View slate East Ron.
