Winthrop Singing Club Concert Impresses Big Crowd
The Winthrop Singing Club held its second season concert in Assembly Hall High School drawing a large appreciative audience. Conductor Winton J. Baltzell earned praise for a polished program featuring operatic and lyrical selections with encores. soloists included Mrs. Baltzell, Dorothea W. Smith, H. W. Perry, Pietro Mordeglia, and the Symphony Quartet. A hero statue of Abraham Lincoln was gifted to the Edward B. Newton school by the club, presented through David Floyd.

Woburn Defeats Town Team in Ninth Inning Thriller
Winthrop opened with a first inning score but Woburn K of C. rallied to win in the ninth. Duston made a one hand catch at third base and McMahon produced a key drive. The town team next faces St Charles of Woburn and then East Boston A A at the centre grounds. Elks plan a fish dinner at Point Shirley on Wednesday June 1 with over 30 expected.

Surprise presentation at Shirley Point reception
The Ladies Auxiliary of Boston Stereotypers and Electrotypers held a reception at Mrs Redfern's home at Shirley Point Winthrop on Thursday evening and presented her a Haviland tea set as a token of esteem for her work with the auxiliary. Mrs Redfern was surprised and responded graciously. Refreshments and music followed with dancing into the early hours.

Death of 14 year old Robert Hanley at hospital
Robert H. Hanley the only son of Mr and Mrs William H Hanley died at the hospital Wednesday morning after an emergency appendectomy. He was fourteen years six months old and attended Winthrop Grammar. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist church.
