The Winthrop Woman's Club held its annual meeting at Endicott Hall with about 70 members. Officers were elected for the new year, reports showed growth to 140 members, and plans included biennial fundraising and community projects.
The W C T U met in the Union Congregational vestry at 2 30 PM with President Mrs Samuel Belcher in attendance after a long confinement. Secretary Mrs Marshall read records as the pastor Rev A L McKenzie spoke on W O T U work and the cigarette law. The president urged school outreach and thanked Principal E D Osborne for discouraging cigarettes. Mrs Peter Barclay was named to lead that branch. Hostesses A L McKenzie and O H Kelley served refreshments and the group voted to support various causes including Willard Settlement for girls, aided by donations of old gold and silver sent to Mrs Samuel Belcher who forwards them to a refiner.
