John J. Mullen aged 61 collapsed from heart failure at his Gerald street home early Monday. A Boston native, he worked as a milk inspector, contractor helper, and for 23 years with J Cullen of Atlantic Avenue. He leaves a wife and two brothers and belonged to Pleasant Park Yacht Club. Requiem Mass at Church of St John the Evangelist was crowded, with Miss Josephine Mulloy directing the choir. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Cemetery Desecrated In Winthrop Night Vandalism
Neighborhood reports describe deliberate damage in Winthrop Cemetery during the night. Two men seen near the grounds around 2 a m while stones and signs were bent or displaced. Superintendent Bennison and Chief Burrell began an investigation as the damaged markers and debris were found along Holly Path and Midway sections.
