Charles M. Kimball files a libel for divorce from Clara May Kimball on grounds of cruel and abusive conduct short of marriage in East Boston 1888. He cites harsh language and claims his wife dampened bed sheets causing rheumatism plus alleged threats about poison in his food. The wife counters in equity claiming he transferred polish business to a corporation and seeks custody of their child. A hearing before Judge Richardson occurred in equity court.

Captain Alfred W. Smith a longtime Winthrop resident and Civil War veteran died at his Gavford street home in Roxbury last week. He commanded the Thomas Eves and later served as Craigie bridge superintendent until retirement. He was a member of Scottish Rite Masons and the Haut Revere Lodge in Somerville. survived by a wife, one daughter and one son.

Railroad commissioners held several hearings last Friday on grade crossing abolition for the Boston Revere Beach Lynn Railroad at Orient Heights East Boston. Due to Commissioner White illness the session was postponed to Saturday July 10 at 9 30 with plan to inspect the East Boston locality if he can attend.
