Daniel Foster Farrar of Boston whose passing occurred at his home on Hermon street ends a 60 year life marked by public service in the city council and notary work. An original Americas Club member and first leading knight of the Boston Elks Lodge, he pursued theater and touring companies before a crippling accident ended his active career. He never married and lived in Hayward place Dorchester and Winthrop before returning to the city.

Winthrop to Form Sons of Veterans Camp
From present appearances within another month Winthrop will have a regular installed camp of Sons of Veterans. The Winthrops Veterans Association offers its hall and assistance to help the new camp succeed. Mr. W. E. Strange Cat Averts Fire At Hermon Street Building
A basement closet fire at 150 Hermon Street in the three story building owned by Thomas H. Cross threatened three flats. Residents including Frederick Marshall family on the first floor and George W. Statham family on the second escaped. third floor occupants Mr and Mrs William D Childress and son were daunted by smoke. Fire department action confined the blaze to the basement and neighbors housed the displaced residents for days. The loss is not expected to be large.

A new Winthrop Beach association has formed and grown to about 150 members. It plans to support beach candidates and secure a polling place at the beach, establish a public library branch, and improve Cottage Hill area streets. The first meeting will be called shortly.
