Frost Association 28th Reunion Held in Assembly Hall

The 28th annual Frost Association reunion gathered January 21 in Assembly Hall with members including Flora Pomeroy Danham, Charles Floyd, John Putnam, David Belcher, and others. Guests spoke of Mr. Frost’s legacy, while prizes, songs, and letters from members and former pupils filled the evening. Officers for the coming year were elected, led by President Harry Lamb and Secretary Carrie Weston.

Winthrop Woman's Club Meeting Highlights Talent

The Winthrop Woman's Club held an afternoon meeting on February 1. Mrs Edith A Johnson and Florence Amy Nickerson arranged music and reading. A young bride story and a piece titled Swinging in the Grape Vine were read or performed with delight. The next gathering will feature a home talent day themed as a Magazine.

Sleighing Party Chaperoned by Governor Coffin

A late last week sleighing party hosted by Governor George W. Coffin of the Deane Winthrop Colony included Arthur M. Floyd driving four gray horses with Miss Marie Alice Tegner of Gloucester assisting. After nearly four hours they returned to Mrs. Will Floyd's Centre street home for supper and social time with numerous attendees listed by name.

Death of Henry J. Vinal at Wyoming Sanitarium

Henry J. Vinal of Cottage Park road died at the Wyoming sanitarium after a four week illness. He had lived in Winthrop 36 years and once owned substantial local real estate. In earlier life he ran a Brockton shoe factory and later worked in stock brokerage in Boston. He leaves a wife and one daughter. He was 57.

Death of Mrs Lucy A Russell in our town

Mrs Lucy A Russell wife of Fred N Russell died after pneumonia in the town. Four children survive and prayers were held at 1 Plummer Street with Rev F M White officiating. Her remains were taken to Amherst Massachusetts for services and Riverside Cemetery Sunderland for interment with undertakers Bennison in charge.

St John Church Chorus Hosts Whist Party and Dance

The newly organized St John the Evangelist Church chorus held a social in Wadsworth Hall on Tuesday evening. William J. Marsh directed the floor with Charles Hasson assisting. Whist ran from 8:80 to 9:80, dancing from 8 to 1, with Dixon's Orchestra providing music.
