Christian Science Lecture Draws Large Winthrop Audience
Virgil Strickler of New York, member of the First Church of Christ Scientist Boston Board of Lectureship, spoke at the Winthrop Theatre last Sunday on Christian Science. The hall overflowed with more than a thousand listeners, forcing late arrivals to be turned away as extra trains ferried visitors from out of town. The talk stressed healing and spiritual renewal through metaphysical teachings, arguing that disease and sin stem from error of belief and are cured by truth rather than physical treatment. The lecture highlighted Biblical references and the idea that mental causation underpins health and freedom from suffering. Continued on page six.
