Flag Raising at Tie Point Shirley Largest Flag in Region
The 93 foot flag was raised at 3 30 p m Thursday with Fort Banks band music and a patriotic ovation by ex Senator William A Morse. A banquet for town officials followed, then an informal dance for members and guests. Funds chiefly came from Point Shirley Club members, sparked by Mrs James T MacDonald wife of a port director.

Greer Identified as Man Struck Near Wood Island Park
The body of 40 year old Robert J. Greer of East Boston was found after a vehicle train incident near Wood Island Park. He was unmarried, an expert swimmer, and brother to Frank B. Greer famed single scull oarsman. He is survived by three brothers, a sister, and other relatives.
