Farewell reception for Rev James F Allen at First Methodist
The Rev James F Allen resigned as pastor to serve as field agent for conference claimants in Everett. Over 200 parishioners attended a farewell event at the church from 8 to 8:30. Allen received a leather oak chair. Mrs Allen got a gold purse from the Social Union. Local clergy and Epworth League members bid him goodbye.

William A Barry 30 died at 144 Circuit road after a brief illness of heart and kidney troubles. Funeral services were at Bennison parlors with Rev Seelye Bryant, cremation at Mt. Auburn. He was the eldest son of James W and Alice A Barry and partner with his father at 40 Central street Boston. survived by his father mother and two brothers.

The final meeting of the year will be hosted by Mrs Tobey on April 29.

Rangers Delayed by Storm Hostess Opens Home Meeting
The Rangers postponed their Wayside Inn trip due to a severe storm and gathered at 51 Sunnyside Avenue, hosted by Mrs. E M Nesmith. Fourteen members shared a box luncheon and coffee, while readings by Mrs. Henrietta W Frost and Mrs. Cora M Holahan accompanied part of the event. Members planned future trips and essay topics on birthplace or places of influence. The next trip is set for April 30.

Five Mile Run Highlights Winthrop Athletes Today
The Winthrop Athletic Association hosts its annual five mile run with local sprinters competing on a course that weaves Pauline Pleasant Main Hermon Winthrop streets Washington avenue Shirley Beach Crest Re vere and ends in Columbia square. Organizing committee includes Myron Tewksbury Ambrose LeVangie and Glen Coleman. Later the Ingleside Park grounds host the Winthrop town team season debut this afternoon.

MRS Fannie A Hanley Rites Held at Home
Mrs Fannie A Hanley died April 14 at her 29 Beal Street home. Funeral service conducted by Rev Charles W Henry, with Nettie Stanley singing We ll Never Say Good Bye I Know that My Redeemer Liveth and The Valley of the Shadow. Interment in Winthrop Cemetery. She was 70 in her 71st year and survived by daughter Mrs Robert McLean and sons Frank and William Hanley.

Illustrated Lecture on Safe and Sane Fourth
A Winthrop Fourth of July Association event drew a small but eager audience at the high school hall for an illustrated talk on safe and sane Fourth. Principal Osborne explained the stereopticon pictures to explain the holiday. An afternoon session for school children drew strong attendance and enthusiasm. The next association meeting will be Monday night in the public library with inviting prospects for large turnout.
