Hand Pickers May Be Needed For ’68 Cotton

Strong yields and heavy bolls have made mechanical harvest difficult, creating a labor shortage as farmers seek available workers. Defoliation started but rain delayed it, and some fields show dead cotton from root rot. Winters Warehouse logged five hand-pulled bales last week, with first bales paid to L. B. Hord and T. W. Norman for ginning at local gins.
