The Enterprise publishes a special Football Supplement for the VHS Blizzard football team. It explains the team’s season start, thanks advertisers and staff, notes potential player number changes, and aims as a souvenir for Winters fans to shout GO BIG BLUE as two games begin in 1968.

A membership luncheon for Winters Chamber of Commerce members is planned for Monday September 23 at 12 45 pm at the Fireside Restaurant. Secretary-manager Emma Marks says the Dutch treat event invites all Winters businesspeople and emphasizes member involvement with no formal program to avoid extended absences. George Garrett heads the arranging committee.
Winters students leave for higher education as registration begins at multiple colleges and universities in Texas and beyond. Task Force 77, a massive armada, operates from Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin conducting aerial and surface interdiction to curb troop and supply flows to the south.
Miss Marie Hill returns Sunday to her Austin home after a weekend visit with her mother Mrs. George C Hill and other relatives in the area.
The Winters City Council weighs a potential closure of the Abilene Southern Railroad depot, noting trains would continue and local shippers could contact Abilene for box cars and freight moves. J. C. Jarrell is the Winters railroad agent.

Sophomore officers list Huden White as president and Joe Eckols as vice president. freshman officers include Mike Smith as president and Kathy Smith as vice president.
Ross Anderson is named counselor at Tarleton State in a campus appointment. The announcement notes Anderson's previous experience and the expected contributions to student services.
Winters High School announces its twirlers and drum major for this year’s Blizzard Band. The group includes Brenda Smith, Cindy Pinkerton, Jill Matthews, and standouts Troylene McKnight, Jean Mostad, Brenda Burns, with staff photos.
The Winters Livestock Association directors met September 10 in the Agriculture Building. Frank Antilley becomes president, with David Carroll as vice president and F.R. The first bale of 1968 cotton picked in the Winters area was ginned by Winters Gin. Brought in by T. W. Norman of Winters last Thursday, the bale weighed 470 pounds from a 1780 pound seed cotton load. It was hand picked on the Ettie Bishop place three miles northeast of Winters. another bale was expected by Monday.
L B Hord of South of Wingate picked the first bale of 1968 cotton to be ginned by Wingate Gin. Brought to the gin Wednesday of last week the seed cotton grossed 1780 and ginned out for a 454 pound bale.
Airman Alan R. Shafer grandson of Mr and Mrs Ray D Shafer Route 2 Wingate completed basic training at Amarillo AFB. He is assigned to the Air Force Technical Training Center at Sheppard AFB Wichita Falls for specialized schooling as a communications specialist. A 1967 Blackwell High School graduate, he attended McMurry College.
Winters Lions Club votes to purchase a wheelchair to loan temporarily to disabled residents, starting with Albert Martinez who recently returned from a California hospital and is now home. The chair will be lent to others as needed and returned when not required.
The 1968 Winters area cotton season starts slowly with only two bales ginned by Winters Gin as of Wednesday noon. A spokesman notes de foliations for mechanical picking will be delayed. a strong crop is anticipated with few insect problems and beneficial rains aiding growth.
The North Runnels County Cancer Society met Monday night at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, viewing a film on cancer prevention. Glenn Gray appointed George Garrett to a By Law committee and J. W. Bahlman to chair the nominating committee. An officer election set for Thursday October 3 at 7 30 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
Weekend visitors at the Davis home included Fay Davis and sons from Irving with Mr. and Mrs. Davis, a nephew Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Parks from Merison with Parks' mother in Bal linger.
Elth. Creek Water Control District directors will tour the Robert Lee dam site under construction on Friday afternoon September 27. Winters participants depart to reach Robert Lee by 2 p m and take a two hour tour guided by project officials. Mr and Mrs Travis Jordan traveled to Houston on Sunday as he entered St Luke Hospital for probable heart surgery.
The Winters High Blizzards fell 24-0 to the Sonora Broncos in a rain soaked opener. A Broncos runner broke free after a fumbled ball and sprinted to a long gain, while a later field goal capped Sonora’s scoring on a night of slick conditions.
