Postmaster Rankin Pace announced that rural mail carriers will start distributing 1964 Acreage Survey Cards to patrons around September 12. The Post Office Department assists U S C A in collecting these farmer reports which form the basis for official estimates.
Postmaster Pace appeals to patrons to fill and return survey cards to ensure Texas crop harvest data is fully represented. Rural carriers participating include Sam Cooke Route One Ray Hollingshead Route Two Weldon Collins Route Three Eddie Little Route Four.
Mrs J C Hodnett hosted the J O Y Sunday School class of First Baptist in her home for the monthly session with Mrs Kenneth Sneed leading the program. Mrs Loyd Roberson appointed committees for new officers and the installation dinner as Mrs Ellis Zane Moore spoke on Faith. Refreshments followed for the listed class members.
Winters Independent Schools presents a weekly lunch menu from Monday September 14 to Friday September 18. Each day offers a main dish, side items, fruit or salad, and milk or chocolate milk with the option on select days for choices such as hot dogs or sandwiches and hamburgers.
Game Warden Lawton Peacock of the Parks and Wildlife Department notes rapid growth in pond raised fish. Thomas Harwell of DeKalb stocked a 0.75 acre farm pond three years ago and fished this year catching two fish weighing three and a half pounds and one pound heavier, while a third escaped.

Regular meeting of the St. John’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid circle was led by president Mrs. Herman Frick in the church basement. Devotions used Matthew 28 28 30, Bible study on Acts 16 18, and offerings reflected parish education. They voted for a church basement cleanup day on October 8 and closed with prayer.

Al Springs of the Parks and Wildlife Department notes the research will test diet effects on this white tailed buck variant and use controlled deep pen conditions to reveal more about their unusual antler traits.
