Metcalfe Pushes Approval of School Fund Amendment

Metcalfe of San Angelo urged Texas voters to approve Constitutional Amendment No. 1 on November 3 to stop transferring one percent annually from the Permanent School Fund for current expenses. Funeral Rites Held For Mrs. W. D. Sanders
Funeral services for Mrs. W. D. Sanders occurred Tuesday at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Crawford officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery under Spill Funeral Home. Mrs. Sanders, widow of Dr. W. D. Sanders, died Monday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Angelo after more than a month’s hospitalization. Born Claudia Patterson in Warrior Alabama December 12 1881 she moved to Winters in 1890 and married Dr. Sanders in 1906. She had lived in Alamo before returning to Winters in 1944. Dr. Sanders died in 1945. She was active in the First Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 80 for 50 years. Survivors include one sister Mrs. Jim P. Flynt Sr. of Ballinger and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Herrell Flynt Marion Flynt C. W. Chancellor Jr. H. F. Boles Duke Jimerson and O. J. Hubbard.
