L M Causey traveled from Van Horn with his daughter then stayed with her in Amarillo before leasing his farm and retiring. Also noted are visits by local residents to a Houston Farm Bureau convention, church gatherings, a roping accident in Brownwood, and condolences to the Fuller and Turk families.
Wingate residents spent time with family including Otto Turk who died en route to hospital after illness. Local services held at St John’s Lutheran. Lane on health and family updates include M B Folsom recovering, new Wingate Laundry owners T E Boyd and wife, and several visits among regional families.
The family of J A Jim Templeton expresses sincere gratitude for neighbors friends and acts of kindness after his death. They thank those who provided food prayers flowers hospital and funeral home support and pallbearers.
Troy P. Allen, 44, of Winters, was killed in an automobile accident about ten miles north of Dimmitt at 1 30 p m Friday. Funeral services were held at 2 p m Sunday in Spill Memorial Chapel with Rev Virgil James officiating. He was a member of Bradshaw Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters Linda and Shirley Allen of Winters a brother Dan Allen Jr and an uncle Bill Paschal Pallbearers named Roy Rice Alvy Williams C R Knight Wardell Long Roger Robinson Bill Hendricks and Mack Edwards.
Bryan Lee and Marcie Webb express gratitude for the prayers thoughts and deeds shown after the death of their son Kevin Michael. They ask God’s blessing on those who offered support during this time of sorrow.
Ben Rowland Thomas 79 a former Shep Community resident died at Wharton Manor in Wharton at 8 a m Thursday after a two year illness. Services will be 2 pm Saturday at Shep Baptist Church with Rev Ted Bigham officiating. Burial in Shep Cemetery under Spill Funeral Home Winters direction. Born August 24 1893 in Buffalo Gap son of John H and Marietta Thomas. He married Laural McIntyre October 2 1919 at Shep. He moved to Borger in the mid 1920s worked in oil fields until retiring in 1959. Survivors include three sons Grady Thomas of Wharton Arthur Thomas of Fritch Wayne Thomas of Nederland a daughter Mrs Paul Cunningham of El Reno Oklahoma three brothers Felix Thomas of Odessa Jess Thomas of El Paso and Ross Thomas of Arco Idaho a sister Mrs Wyman Virden of Robstown nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The Ladies Firemen's Auxiliary sponsored a taco supper for Winters Volunteer Fire Department members last week. About 20 firemen attended the event with auxiliary members serving including Jere Bailey Nina Bedford Lou Bowden Virginia Carey Margie Chaney Dana Chamb liss Carolyn Davis Melba Em mert Helen Henderson Jo Miller Sue Spill Betty Easterly Janice Merrill and Beth Whitlow.
