Mrs Gardner Died Monday In Ballinger
Mrs Walter P Gardner 87 died at 8 30 am Monday in Ballinger Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Spill Memorial Chapel with two United Methodist ministers officiating. Burial was in Coleman City Cemetery. She was born Beulah Wilkerson on December 8 1887 in Crews and married Walter P Gardner on December 24 1905. The couple farmed near Crews then moved to Winters in 1919 to run a dry goods business for 22 years. She later represented Avon in the Winters area. Survivors include two brothers Chester and Loyd Wilkerson, several nieces and nephews. a child preceded her in death. Pallbearers were nephews.

The Lamplighters Group of the United Methodist Women met in the Fellowship Hall Tuesday morning. Mrs. Roy Crawford led the opening prayer and Mrs. Paul Gerhardt presented the program What Is Power. Those present included Mesdames Roy Crawford Jewel Mitchell August McWilliams Willie Lois Nichols Vada Babston and Paul Gerhardt.

Lutheran Ladies Aid Meeting at St John’s church
The Ladies Aid Circle met Thursday afternoon in the church Fellowship Center. E E Thormeyer was program chairman and opened with a hymn. Bible study was led by Walter Gerhart Ellis Ueckert and A C Minzenmayer. Eleven members read verses. Hostesses were H L Frick Mary Frick and Robert Gerhart. A December Communion service will follow the Bible study.

First Gas Line and Early Oil Pipeline History
