Burial of Wm. Lackey Noted Civil War Veteran of Winters
Wm Lackey born December 1 1823 near St Louis Missouri died Thursday after short illness aged twenty four months and twenty four days. He served four years in the Civil War and lived in Texas since. Survived by twenty three children and thirty five grandchildren. He belonged to Winters Baptist church and later withdrew to join O Donnell church where illness prevented. His life described as attractive and faithful with deep religious faith guiding him through suffering.
