City of Winters passes an ordinance for bicycle registration and licensing. Police to issue one year licenses dated November 1, with metallic tags bearing registration numbers and year, for operation on streets and alleys. Reflectors or front headlights and rear reflectors required after 7 PM to 5 AM, penalties defined. Emergency clause included.
The city establishes annual bicycle licenses at 50 cents with transfers 25 cents and a 10 cent reissue fee. It requires registration cards, reporting of sales, and prohibits altering license numbers. Night riding bands 7 PM to 5 AM mandate amber reflectors or headlights and rear reflectors.
Judy Coe daughter of Mr and Mrs Vernon Copeland and granddaughter of Mr and Mrs T B Poe was crowned queen at Blackwell High School coronation. Duwayne Carpenter named king. The court included duchesses and dukes from elementary classes and princes and princesses from high school classes. Miss Coe later named Future Farmers of America Sweetheart and Good Citizenship Award recipient by faculty.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Ritch of Plainview spent a few days visiting in the home of Mrs. Joe Ritch and Mrs. Lora Coup, returning after a short stay last week.
