Secretary Morgenthau warned the Senate Finance Committee that the federal deficit for the year could reach 38.9 billion dollars when accounting for the entire veterans bonus. The anti chain store price discrimination bill advances slowly, and Copeland food and drug legislation gains momentum. Talks anticipate adjournment around June 18 as the Republican convention shapes up possible nominees with Landon leading and Vandenberg or Steiner as potential vice presidential picks.
