Luther L. Williams Jr. of Abilene stayed overnight with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Shufield. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Collins and their son of Odessa visited their parents Mrs. H. J. Hodge and Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Collins for the weekend.

James William Corum 83, a longtime Winters area blacksmith and father of Mrs Newt Stoecker, died in a Big Spring hospital after four years of ill health and ten days of critical illness. He was born October 13 1876 in Lebanon Tennessee and lived in Ballinger Palo Pinto Winters. He and Mary Elizabeth Gamble wed in 1899 and celebrated a golden anniversary in 1949. Funeral held at Winters Church of Christ with burial in Evergreen Cemetery Ballinger. Survivors include four daughters, two sisters, one brother, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Willis Whittenberg hosted the St. Johns Evening Circle at her West Dale Avenue home for a regular session after singing I Need Thee Every Hour. Estella Bredemeyer led devotions from Luke 638 and 2 Corinthians 915, and Mrs. Charlie West led a Bible study on The Servant Teaches in Parables and Miracles from Mark 431 and 5:41. The group read verses, L. R. Hoppe presided over the business meeting, minutes were read, and Minnie Belitz delivered the treasurer’s report with several members in attendance.
Edna Mayfield led the Sub Deb Club meeting at Emma Marks home with Martha as hostess. President Nancy Roberts presided and Toni Johnson read the roll as new member Marion Burrows sent an acceptance letter. Members voted for a cake sale and noted the upcoming April 16 homecoming tea at First Methodist Church.
White Mrs George Pruser Jr and two visitors Mrs John Minzen mayer and Mrs Frank Carter are named in a social note detailing guest attendance and luncheon plans at a regional society gathering.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Starch of Route 1 Ralls Texas announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Jauana Fanny to Benny Ray Colburn son of Mr and Mrs Vivian Colburn of Winters. Vows set for June 4 at First Methodist Church Ralls. Jauana graduates May 30 from Texasechnological College with a BS in elementary education. Benny is a Winters High School and Texas Technological College graduate with a BS in dairy industry class of 1959.
Mr and Mrs Fred Hillman of Bourne visited relatives and friends here the past weekend, with mentions of Vera Williams Carolyn Faubion Evelyn Hudgins Martha Marks Naida Peacock Frances Saunders LaGatha Traylor Linda Frazier Bettye Mayfield Bobby Howard Sharon Johnson Ginger Gardner Mrs W M Hays and Mrs W T, in a local social note.
