Local churchgoers from Ballinger Winters Drasco and nearby towns gather for Sunday services. Funeral notices, birthdays, and family visits fill a long report detailing residents' activities, travels, and church affiliations across Ballinger Abilene and Midland.
Funeral services for Willie A. Snow 74 retired Runnels County farmer were held Sunday afternoon at Spill Memorial Chapel. The Rev E L Craig officiated with burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Snow died at 3 30 am Friday in a San Antonio convalescent home after years of ill health. He was born January 30 1886 in Tarrant County and lived in Runnels Brownwood Winters and San Antonio before his death. He survived by his wife two sons a daughter six grandchildren and a great grandchild. Pallbearers included Coy Riddle Carson Easterly and others from San Angelo.
Mr and Mrs M D Johnston of Fort Worth, formerly of Winters, spent the weekend with friends and attended the formal opening of the new post office.
Paula Buckner a student at North Texas State College in Denton spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs E Y Buckner at their Buckner home.
Residents and visitors are named from Winters and nearby towns. Dinners and suppers were shared at homes of the Grun, Harrisons, and Lidbetters, with plans noted for upcoming birthdays and weddings in the local area. A list of in town visitors includes Grady Dunnam, L A Morgan, Billy Joe Buchanan, and others from Abilene and San Angelo.
Mrs. Cora White was honored on her seventy third birthday with a surprise dinner at the home of her son Carl Cummings. Attendees included Fred Cummings of Novice Wayne Cummings and family of San Angelo Carl Cummings and Larry of Winters Arlen Vaughan of Lubbock and sister Allen Meadows of Winters.
Mrs. W C Workman hosted the Bee Busy Sewing Club meeting with hand work, refreshments for members E C Collinsworth J T James J C Martin W E Coley W H Cain M H Hogan George Lloyd M G Roper Bill Millorn and visitors Mrs Gene Virden and Mrs W E Hudson. The next gathering is set for March 7 at Mrs M G Roper’s home.
Mr and Mrs Truett W Bentley announce the birth of their daughter Susan Diane on February 13 at Shannon Hospital San Angelo. The baby weighs seven pounds eight ounces. Paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs G C Kirkpatrick of Kilgore. The Bentleys also have a son Ricky age 4.
Sory Alexander 74 a Crews rancher died Friday at 8 30 p m in Winters Municipal Hospital after a weeklong illness from a stroke Born March 23 1885 near Jacksonville he married Cordelia Walker August 24 1912 at Eulogy They moved to Runnels County December 20 1923 He was a trustee of Lone Oak School and member of Wingate Church of Christ Funeral held Sunday in Spill Memorial Chapel with E B McKown and Virgil James officiating Burial at Crews Cemetery Survivors include his wife one son Norval two daughters Mrs C T Glover and Mrs J A Archer two brothers Sam and Henry one sister Mrs Belle Walker six grandchildren and two great grandchildren Pallbearers were Leon Walker Chester McBeth Charlie Sprinkle C R Kendrick Noble Faubion and Homer Stoecker
Weekend visitors in the home of A. T. Jobe included Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Boswell of Midland Mrs. J. E. Kissinger and Mrs. Andy Cross of McKinney Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jobe and children of Ballinger Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fenske and Andy of Abilene.
