City Adds Capacity to Water Distribution System
A winter city project aims to greatly expand the water supply with nearly 9000 feet of new lines to be installed by the Water Department. About 1800 feet of 3, 4 and 6 inch lines have been placed in the Winterhaven Addition and along Frisco and Roberts Streets. Fire plugs added on new lines improve fire protection in previously underserved areas. Future work includes about 7000 feet of 6 inch line in several districts, to be completed as time permits. The plan follows engineer recommendations from a four year old survey to create a main line loop for uniform service, though full completion will take time.
