A survey of 102 cities in 35 states shows 1,215,390 under 21 registered in the last six months of 1971, about 36 percent of eligible youths, doubling earlier projections. Youth interest in politics rises with more participation and looming November elections may push registrations higher.
A growing wave of younger politicians enters public life as about 25 009 000 voters under twenty five emerge.
