The UIL Region band from Angelo plans an April event with limited pressings of a two mood winds disc. Robert Gans notes orders may reach 100, aimed at supporting the band. Separately, fire and police traffic near the station draw crowds during emergencies, impacting safety and hospital transport.
Classes for all ages will run 8:30 a.m. through Friday at the School of St. John. The study centers on the Lord's Prayer and invites families to participate together.

Winters Riding Club with 37 riders will ride from Winters to Coleman next Wednesday and Thursday, camping overnight at Herds Creek Lake and joining the Coleman Rodeo parade and grand entry. They depart 8:30 a.m. with lunch at Crews Gymnasium and a barbecue at the lake, returning to Coleman for the 5 p.m. parade and 8 p.m. grand entry, bringing sack lunches for Wednesday. The club recently won first place in the Ballinger Junior Rodeo parade.

Mike Kozelsky hit a three run homer at Briley Field as Winters Little League nears postseason. The Indians faced the Jets with two weeks left before all-star sectional play starting July 8 at Robert Lee. An all-star winner advances to July 20 against Sweetwater and Merkel area teams. Managers are Lloyd Gilbert and Bill Chapman. Yankees lead Winters with 11-1 overall, Pirates top minors at 11-1.
Alderman-Cave Milling Co advances a 50 by 100 foot steel grain storage building with 13 000 bushel capacity and 50 carloads of cottonseed hulls. The facility links to the main elevator across the tracks and includes a conveyor system for grain movement. Ray Alderman says the project expands storage to 260 000 bushels and supports cooperation with grain growers and feeders.
Mrs A A Morinello and her children Vince Lisa and Paul of the U S Air Academy Colorado Springs visit her parents Mr and Mrs F C Mills while Major Morinello was on a three week tour of New Zealand and Australia with 120 cadets. They returned home Friday.
Members of the Ladies Golf Association met last Thursday at the Winters Country Club and planned to furnish sandwiches for the golf tournament on Thursday July 4. Mrs. Russell Mote won the Blind Bogey contest. Present were Mrs. Wade White Mrs. Jack Harrison Mrs E T Patterson Mrs Russell Mote and Mrs Morris Robinson.

Two local youths, Mike Patterson 16 and Johnny Hopper 19, were critically burned in an explosion while cleaning an oil tank near Norton. They were taken from Winters to Galveston for treatment. a third worker, Ralph Teten 60, suffered less serious burns. The incident involved Winters Construction Co. workers and followed a fire during tank cleaning with explosive residue ignited by a motor. Patterson and Hopper, former Winters High players, were accompanied by family and company representatives to hospital.
Runnels County reports indicate 1963 will be a bountiful year with milo and cotton expected to yield record amounts. Weather remains favorable though boll weevil risk persists. County agent C. T. Parker urges regular insect inspections and preventive steps, offering help to farmers on pest issues. About 100000 acres are planted to milo in the county.
The Luther League of St. John's Lutheran Church led by Mrs. Charles Kruse Jr. presents a play titled Teen On A Tangent. It runs next Friday night July 12 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is free with a freewill offering. Public invited.
Mr. and Mrs. C M Gooch and their daughter Mrs. Tom McCollum of Snyder left Wednesday for Snyder and then to San Rafael California to visit their daughter Mrs. Truett Nance. They will be joined by Mr. Nance who has been visiting Winters for several weeks.
Five Winters young people joined hundreds of teenagers and counselors from the Central Texas Conference of the Methodist Church at the annual Youth Assembly on the Southwestern University campus in Georgetown. Winters attendees were Bob Austin Gary Holmes Dick Young Richard Cook and Robin Middleton.
Coach L G Wilson of Winters High School announced workouts begin at 5 30 Monday afternoon July 8 at the high school track for boys and girls to prepare for the Abilene Recreation Invitational Track and Field Meet to be held in Abilene on July 3. The meet will include midget junior intermediate and senior divisions with events such as sprints relays high jump broad jump and hurdles. Students should call Coach Wilson to sign up and train for the meet.
