Texas to Start Medicaid Dental Plan for Children
The Texas State Health Department and the Texas Department of Public Welfare will launch a Medicaid program in 1973 to provide dental care for welfare families with children. Initially serving under six, about 100,000 Texas children, it will expand July 1 to cover all welfare children up to age 21, benefiting more than 300,000 youths. The program also funds medical screening and treatment, with centralized administration shared across medical and dental segments but separate directors for each.
