Elder John C. Byrd 78 Dies at Wingate Texas

John C. Byrd 78 died at his Wingate home at 4 30 a m Thursday after a heart attack. Funeral 3 p m Friday at Spill Memorial Chapel with E B McCown of Abilene and Hutton of Turkey officiating. Burial Wingate Cemetery. Born January 13 1886 in Searcy County Arkansas he moved to Texas at 14, married Ella Walker in 1906, lived near Wingate and Taylor County, retired from farming in 1960. Survived by wife a son L W Byrd a daughter Mrs Alton Armstrong five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers listed.

Funeral Services Here Sunday For Mrs. E. Simons

Funeral services for Eunice Virginia Simons, 62, of Winters, will be held Sunday at 3 p m at First Baptist Church. Burial in Fairview Cemetery. She died Friday afternoon after illness. Survivors include mother W E Puckett, two sons Marshall N and Carroll D, a daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, one sister, a foster brother, a niece and a nephew. Pallbearers listed.

C O Rodgers aged 66 died Saturday at the Merrill Rest Home in Winters after more than four years illness. Funeral services Monday at 2 PM at First Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Elliott and Rev. B T Shoe officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery Ballinger. He born Oct 9 1897 east of Winters. Survived by wife Ethel, son Dennis, two grandchildren Denice and Dean, another son William D Rodgers killed at Okinawa in 1945, brother Earl, four sisters, and pallbearers named.

Miss Ruth Morgan presided at the quarterly meeting of the Runnels County Tuberculosis Association board in the Ivy Room Texas Grill. Reports covered 1963 seal sales, 2119.62 on hand, five patients at McKnight Hospital, and school skin testing of 800 first and second graders. Delegates to the state TB meeting in Austin were named with Claude Stone Jr. elected representative director.
