Roger Babson cites a severe haze and smog crisis in major cities threatening health. Dr. Walter Orr Roberts warns thousands could die from polluted air despite any immediate cleanup, with 308 cities already deemed health hazards.
The Texas Safety Association urged college students to set the pace for holiday safety with 317 353 students enrolled. TSA says young drivers are quick reacting and well educated but inexperience can cause trouble so slow down in bad conditions and prep cars with safety checks. Musick advises rest stops sleep and alternating driving duties to reduce fatigue.
Leon Bridwell of Snyder, formerly Winters, is in Cogdell Memorial Hospital with injuries from an December 1 accident. He will remain hospitalized for at least six weeks.
Mrs. C. V. Thompson former Eleanor Kelley mother of missionary Carol Thompson from Toronto Brazil returns to her Arkansas home after visiting her mother Mrs. Lydea Kelley.
The Fisher family expresses sincere thanks to friends and neighbors for kindness and sympathy shown during a loved one's illness and at his death. They acknowledge flowers cards visits and hospital staff and say these expressions will be remembered.

Bob Duane Foster, also a 1965 Winters High School graduate, attended Ranger Junior College before joining the U S Navy.
The Friendly Ladies Sunday School Class of the First Methodist Church held their annual Christmas party in the church parlor. President Mrs. M. L. Dobbins led the opening prayer. devotional and candlelight service were led by Mrs. H. O. Abbott. songs were by Mrs. D. W. Williams and Mrs. M. E. Leeman. Gifts were exchanged for the three teachers, and many members and a visitor were served refreshments by hostesses including Mrs. Willie Lois Nichols and Mrs. Leeman.
William Durwood Price aged 37 a Winters native living in Abilene died in a truck collision in Lubbock while visiting relatives. Funeral services were held in Lubbock. Survivors include his wife his parents Mr and Mrs Guy Ashley of Brownwood three sons two granddaughters two brothers and two sisters.
