Health for All Preventable Home Accidents Hit Children
Officials at the Texas State Department of Health warn preventable accidents are the leading single cause of death for children. In Texas, about 1,100 under-15s die from home accidents annually, with kitchens, bathrooms, and storage areas presenting the greatest risks. Parents are urged to secure poisons, lock medicines, unplug unused appliances, cover outlets, fence pools, and supervise yards to reduce fatal or crippling injuries.
