Don Lewis of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is assigned to Runnels County to work the area exclusively. He resides at 703 7th Street Ballinger and can be reached by phone at 365-323 or via the Runnels County Sheriff's office.
Bruce Waggoner will receive his B S degree in chemistry from Angelo State University on Monday morning August 23. He is employed as a chemist with Shell Oil Company in Odessa and will move there with his wife and two sons.
Annual Condra family reunion gathered Sunday at Ballinger Community Center. Attendees included Floyd and [other family members], Timms, Condra, Bullard, and Timms families from Lubbock, Ballinger, Anton, San Angelo, Big Spring, Carlsbad, Wingate, Abilene, and surrounding areas along with relatives from Lawton Oklahoma and California.
Winters High School juniors and seniors will attend The Taming of the Shrew at Globe Playhouse Theatre Odessa College on Sunday August 24. Students must call John Key at 754-5474 by noon Saturday if they want to go. Adults who drive to Odessa will receive free tickets to the play.
Regular gospel singing will be held Monday night at the Shep Community Center. Visiting quartets are expected and the public is invited to attend and enjoy the singing.
Mr. and Mrs. Littles of Stratford New Jersey announce the birth of a daughter Jennifer Mann born in Philadelphia Naval Hospital on Saturday August 16. The infant weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Little of Winters and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Howe of New Hyde Park New York. Lt Little has been stationed at Philadelphia Naval Base and named military judge in charge of the Military Justice Division of the Fourth Naval District.
Joy Irvin of El Paso spent last week in the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Irvin.
Mr and Mrs Jackey L Hord wed Friday night August 1 at the bride’s sister home in Fort Worth The couple will reside at 1000 Conner Street Fort Worth Venita Ann Sample is the bride daughter of Mr and Mrs Roland Sample of Winters The groom is Wes ley Hord son of Mr and Mrs Cecil Fuller of Winters Preston Sheffield officiated The bride’s sister was attendant Jake Hord was best man The groom attended Winters High School and works for General Dynamics in Fort Worth
VFW Post 9193 and Ladies Auxiliary organized the Youth Fishorama at Winters City Lake Saturday. Seventy seven attendees included 20 VFW and Auxiliary members. Donna Marks and Johnny Miller won prizes in the event. M L Guy and others judged the fishing contest.
The Lance Bradford Fund Committee expresses gratitude to workers at the fund raising porch sale and to those who donated items and baked cakes. Lance Bradford Jr. was injured in a gun mishap and required extensive hospital treatment. Donations may be made at Winters State Bank to the Lance Bradford Fund.
Miss Robin McKiel returns to Hyattsville Maryland after visiting her grandmother Mrs Frank McKiel in Tyler and Austin. She plans to enroll at the University of Maryland for the fall and winter terms following her trip to Texas to see relatives and attend the University of Texas where her father graduated.
Mr and Mrs Bill Graham of Winters and Corpus Christi hosted Mrs Press Edwards of Winters and Mrs Clarence Bennett of Brownsville. In Corpus they toured Aransas Pass Padre Island Nueces Bay San Marcos Aquarena and the Capitol in Austin during the Governor for a Day celebration.
Mr and Mrs Nick Gimmarino return to their New York home after visiting Mrs Grenwelge and sister Mrs Walter Davis in Ballinger.
Loyd Jennings of Meridian Mississippi traveled to Winters on Thursday to handle business for his mother Mrs John Knight.
Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Myers and their daughters Tammy and Gayla of Baton Rouge Louisiana visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Irvin last week in a family gathering.
Dorcas Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church met on Thursday morning August 14 at the home of Mrs Artie Smith with co hostess Mrs Ethel Graham. President Mrs Lettis Davis presided and the meeting opened with prayer. A Bible Quiz entertained and a Lottie Moon offering was collected. A refreshments plates were served to listed members and guests.
