Runnels Archers Hold Weekly Club Shoot in Winters
Runnels County Archery Association held its second April club shoot on Sunday with Dallas based barebow champion David Hughes in attendance. Marvin Clark, 17, scored 462 to reach the Young Adult freestyle division and will compete for the state championship May 29-30 near Abilene State Park. After the event a business meeting added the Jim Blackshear family to the club.

Collins Back From Crete Heads To Vietnam Tour
U S Air Force Staff Sergeant Terry D Collins and wife Mrs Collins have returned from Crete after two years stationed there. He will finish training in Florida Washington and San Angelo then depart after a 30 day leave for a Vietnam tour. Collins is the son of Mrs Weldon Collins Winters and the late Mr Collins. Mrs Collins is the daughter of Mr and Mrs N L Faubion Route 2 Winters and is living in Abilene.

VFW Sponsors Gun Safety Program Saturday
Don Lewis a game warden for Runnels County will present a gun safety program on Saturday April 24 at the Winters Community Center beginning at 9 a.m. The event sponsored by Winters Post 9193 Veterans of Foreign Wars features films slides and demonstrations for all ages. After the program Lewis will demonstrate safe handling and firing at the rifle range by Winters City Lake. Refreshments will be available.

Andrew Thomas Jobe aged 87 died at Merrill Nursing Home at 11 30 a m Sunday after years of illness. Funeral held 10 a m Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev Glenn Bowman officiating. Burial in Northview Cemetery under Spill Funeral Home direction. Winters Masonic Lodge conducted graveside rites. He was born February 26 1884 in Gray County Texas and lived in Garland Taylor County Winters. Survived by six sons five daughters twenty four grandchildren twenty five great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.
