President Coolidge begins his executive summer vacation aboard the presidential special en route to Cedar Island Lodge Wisconsin. The trip spans into September with Mrs Coolidge resting, medical staff present, and plans for arrival at Woodland Sanctuary Chicago noted.
The Republican convention adopted a 9,000 word platform praising Coolidge and Mellon, pledging vigorous prohibition enforcement and a clean presidential campaign. It calls for farm aid, tariff measures, agricultural equality, and strict public funding rules with quarterly campaign disclosures.
Robert W. Stewart chairman of Standard Oil Indiana is cleared of contempt of the senate by a District of Columbia jury. LOS ANGELES June 14. Beginning July 1 workers for the Union Oil Company will enjoy a six day week. Several other large companies were said to be preparing to take similar action.
Governor George W. P. Hunt announced the reappointment of Mrs. Katherine G. Hutchison of Tombstone to the Arizona state board of nurse examiners. The action, dated June 14 in Phoenix, confirms Hutchison's continuation in the post.
Two spans of a new bridge across the Colorado River near Blythe were washed out by flood waters today. The bridge formed part of the highway linking Arizona and California. Traffic was diverted via Needles to Yuma while Blythe officials planned to run a ferry next week.

London June 14 the house of commons rejected the revised book of common prayer by 266 to 220 after two days of bitter debate. Westminster Abbey stayed open late for prayers as supporters urged restraint and church leaders appealed for calm following the vote.
Three members of the Italia wreck crew were rescued Thursday by a landing party from the Norwegian relief ship Hobby, according to a Braganza despatch. Swede scientist Malmgren was among the rescued. others unnamed. They left the ice cavern and headed toward land as Nobile’s drifting party approached Northeastland.
Washington June 15 Herbert Hoover learned of his nomination over radios early this morning. He declined comment, smiling as supporters gathered in his S Street home. He plans to remain in office briefly to finish current work before likely resigning to prepare for August nomination formalities.
