Washington officials announce 1600 Marines ordered to embark for Nicaragua as tensions rise. Officials fear Diaz forces may struggle to cope with the developing situation and prepare for possible combat or evacuation actions.
The McNary-Haugen farm relief bill won final House approval 214 to 178 in a nine hour session. It now goes to President Coolidge as congressional opinion splits on a pending veto. The measure creates a 12 member federal farm board with a 250 million revolving fund to control surpluses in basic crops including swine Wheat corn cotton tobacco and rice.

The appeals court ruled Chaplin was not served with the divorce complaint, stripping the superior court of jurisdiction.
Mabel Normand was declared out of danger by her personal physician at a Santa Monica hospital where the film actress has been critically ill with bronchial pneumonia. Dr Herne said Normand is resting easier and progress is favorable. what was thought to be an abscess proved to be serious congestion with no pneumonia complications.
