Durham truck driver William Clendenin backed his truck into a Chico garage, fatally striking his three year old son Harold who was among four children clinging to the vehicle. He warned the boy he would start the machine but the child did not heed the warning.
Naval officials in Boston said they hoped to locate alive the three men missing from the wrecked tug Mohave. The skiff they used was found on Hull Beach. oars and a life preserver were found nearby. Aerial and naval search failed to locate them as the Mohave remained wedged on Harding’s Ledge.
United States circuit court in San Francisco ruled that private stocks of liquor seized by federal agents must be returned to the owner even if possession was illegal or legal. The case of Thomas Fabri influenced thousands of pending matters as the court reversed a lower ruling that denied return of the confiscated liquor.
