Rhodes Accepts Most Kuchel Water Plan With One Reservation

Rep. John J. Rhodes says he would back Sen. Thomas Kuchel’s California water guarantees aside from one major caveat. The plan would assure 4.5 million acre feet of Colorado River water to California annually, with an additional 2.5 million acre feet of new water to be imported each year. Rhodes suggests cutting the new water by any amount California saves through Lower Basin conservation or gains from federal land use.

Presbyterians Celebrate First Services in New Winslow Church

The United Presbyterian Church in Winslow will hold its first services in the new building this Sunday. Sunday School starts at 9 30 a m with morning worship at 11 00 a m. The church is located at 145 Hip koe Drive Papago Blvd on the west side. The completed unit includes a sanctuary for about 150 and a five classroom wing with the minister's study.

Enz, snow supervisor for the U S Soil Conservation Service, said in his semi monthly report that snow cover ranges from 46 percent of average on the Verde River watershed to ten percent above normal on the Little Colorado River watershed.

Attend Rites For Frank E. Wells

Frances Roberts and family attended funeral services for Frank E. Wells 77 editor and publisher of the Williams News for over 51 years. Wells died Sunday evening after arriving in Arizona from Kansas in 1913 and marked the papers 50th anniversary in 1963. Survivors include his second wife Edna a son F Evarts five grandsons and one granddaughter.
