The senate adjourned in respect to Senator Overman of North Carolina who died early today. Senator Simmons announced the death to a stilled senate. Senator Lee S. Overman will be honored in the senate chamber tonight.
Lee Slater Overman of North Carolina died after a sudden illness at age 76. He closed 28 years in the Senate after a fragile condition that worsened yesterday following an internal hemorrhage. He had been expected to endure the night before succumbing around one o'clock this morning.
Chicago police were told by Robert Kirkham an undertaker's assistant that the two robbers who held him up last night can be found if they drink the liquid they took believing it to be moonshine They actually stole embalming fluid prompting instant police interest
In Evanston Illinois police custody William Kitok walked free after a loud explosion shattered the evidence six bottles of home brew. Lieut Car Ekman explained the blast occurred in the jail room destroying the brew and clearing the suspect.
