New York reports Mrs June 30th the second Chicago blonde to enter the Rothstein murder case talked her way out of trouble and talked Joseph Unger into indictment as a principal in a major international drug ring linked to the late Arnold Rothstein. Unger was arrested in Buffalo after trunks with 2 000 000 in habit forming drugs were seized at Grand Central Station. Mrs Boyd is arrested in continuation on page two.
Gordon W. Wilder, 58, a mining engineer, goes on trial tomorrow before Superior Judge Jenkins in Phoenix on charges of murdering business associate C. B. Davis, 46. Wilder’s attorney plans a self-defense and temporary insanity defense. Davis died from a heart shot after a money dispute. Wilder surrendered then.
President Sam H. Thompson told the American Farm Bureau Federation in Chicago that farmers should push surplus crop control and agricultural tariffs at a special Congress session in 1929. He urged not emergency measures but a full policy, possibly at an extra session after the 70th Congress adjourns, and signaled willingness to back a new relief plan from the Republican administration.
