President Hoover recommends prioritizing unemployment and drought relief, seeks emergency $150 million for federal road construction, and urges rapid action on Muscle Shoals and other bills. He warns of a 1932 deficit near $180 million and calls for rigid economy to avoid tax increases.
Hoover argues economic woes cannot be cured by lawmakers or executives alone. wounds must heal through producers and consumers. He warns unemployment will persist through winter but asserts a national duty to keep all deserving citizens from suffering longer.
Forecast shows fall conditions with warmer wind and clear skies in the Arizona northeast region tonight. By Monday the high is expected around the lower 70s with a mild low overnight, offering comfortable autumn weather for residents in the area.
Four dry law violators were arrested in Winslow by Deputy U.S. Marshal O C Williams and moved to Holbrook for temporary jail before Phoenix hearings. Four hunters were killed and six injured when shells exploded as a camp housing fourteen men burned in a fire near Otis Massachusetts early today. The dead are Otto Rittner and Joseph Genniv of New Britain among others.
Replacing the district school house destroyed by fire last spring, a new Eagar building is completed and to be dedicated Saturday evening at 7 30. Dedication services will follow with a dance in Round Valley High School Auditorium hosted by the Round Valley Parent Teacher Association.
Prescott Ariz Dec 2 A superior court jury exonerated the Santa Fe railroad company in a suit by Dan Tain Livestock to recover 1760 for 160 sheep killed by a Phoenix train last April.
Washington announced Mrs. Marion Roister will serve as postmaster for Silver Bell in Pima County Arizona. The appointment comes from the federal post office in Washington and was reported to the Phoenix office today.
In Washington the House prepares for a caucus to push repeal or modification of the eighteenth amendment. Representative Litrthicum of Maryland leads calls for an aggressive campaign this session. Bills to permit manufacture and sale of wines and beer also enter the hopper as the dry era faces renewed challenge.
Professor Albert Einstein departed Antwerp at noon aboard the Belgenland bound for the United States. He will visit friends there as journalists and the German consul saw him off with a bouquet for Frau Einstein.

Mrs. Alfred Hawke, hospitalized ten days with a bullet in her brain, was moved to friends’ home where doctors said she is recovering. She was shot November 22 as she walked from her home to her Prescott cafe employer.
Myron Turnquist, 18, told doctors he injured himself while shaving with a butcher knife on the street. He suffered about a dozen cuts, and was taken to a hospital after the incident occurred on the straightaway.

Australian aviatrix Mrs J M Keith-Miller recounted her forced landing after a Havana to New York flight. A gale blew her off course for seven hours and her compass failed before she spotted Kemp Bay on Andros Island. She landed safely, then walked sixteen miles to the nearest telegraph station.
Navajo County's final net assessed valuation is 11.85 million dollars as set by the state board of equalization. The statewide net valuation totals 714.95 million with gross assessments at 741.92 million for the year.
The U S Department of Commerce has taken over ownership and operation of the Winslow radio station formerly run by Transcontinental and Western Air. Plans are under way to install an airways radio beacon at Winslow, an entirely separate unit from the present station, with material already arriving. The beacon will aid navigation by continuous wave signals, following methods used in the Dole Hawaii flight.
James J Davis of Pennsylvania gained a Senate seat amid a campaign funds probe. The Nye committee reported over 600000 was spent in support of the Brown Davis ticket, with totals for the committee at 368962 and additional sums found recently. Davis allegedly spent 10807 in the primary as the inquiry continues.
A proposal to relocate 10 000 to 20 000 Boukhobor followers from Canada to Mexico has been presented to the secretary of agriculture. Peter Verigin, leader, and Aaron Sapiro urged government aid for land. The Doukhobors, began in Russia and settled in western Canada three decades ago, have clashed with authorities over schooling and modest dress in public.
Mrs. A. R. Hendry, injured Sunday night when struck by an extra train eight miles east of Winslow, remained unconscious at noon after receiving surgical treatment for a scalp wound. Dr. Robert M. Stump warned of a possible skull base blood clot from the impact.
The Schneider Cup for seaplanes will run from August 24 to September 19 with competition in English waters. The site has not yet been selected by the International Aeronautical Federation.
Denver jurors heard in district attorney Earl Wettengel opening that Colorado would seek the death penalty for Pearl O Loughlin in the murder of her 10 year old stepdaughter Leona. The case was presented on Dec 2 with the state pen alty as the requested punishment.
Shanghai December 2 AP Chinese officials announce the nationalist government’s new trans Pacific wireless station will open for public service December 6 with an exchange of messages between President Chiang Kai Shek and President Hoover. Current rates remain, but reductions are expected later.
Radio messages from the Sangro’s captain reported the coastwise motor vessel San Francisco sunk Monday about 40 miles northeast of Puerto Mexico. Passengers and crew were saved by the Sangro. The San Francisco was a small 149 ton vessel.
Dartmouth football team defeated the Stanford eleven last Saturday on their field and passed through yesterday afternoon at 2 15 on a special train running as a second number 4. The train carried first class equipment including club and observation cars.
The Winslow city council passed resolutions adopting paving district number six embracing 49 blocks. The project will start after March 15 1931 following legal proceedings and bids, with bidding allowed on eight paving combinations. A drainage district ordinance was also adopted and a speed officer appointed to enforce traffic laws.
