Clifton August 21 Severo Munoz of Clifton was exonerated by a coroner’s jury after testimony showed Nemecio Lopez killed to prevent slaying of Angela Ullea. Lopez fired at the girl before Munoz shot him, ending the investigation of the fatal shooting.
Mexico City August 21 The ministry of finance ordered customs officers to enforce the law forbidding removal of gold from the country. Measures include close inspection of baggage at frontier points.
Joseph A. Morlock Jr and Kenneth Carter, both of Cleveland Ohio, were convicted in Pooche Nev of first degree murder for killing Herbert Hulse a miner from Ireland last December. The jury recommended life imprisonment for the two youths.

Washington Aug 21 AP The United States has submitted a draft reciprocal air traffic agreement with Great Britain. It covers trans Atlantic flights in lighter than air craft and airplanes between the U S, Britain and British colonies. Current rules require runa permissions from the destination government before overflight.

AP dispatches report a provincial army victory in western Kiangsi with about 4,000 communists killed and 2,000 rifles captured. The same day, communists burned Wusueh in Hupeh, looting a 6,000 population city near the Yangtze river port Kiukiang.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a total expenditure of 161,067,963 dollars in July across the nation’s principal cities, up 2.4 percent from June. Residential building declined 2.2 percent in 288 cities with over 25,000 people, while non-residential construction rose 5.1 percent.

July arrests totaled 6524 with 3922 bound over to grand jury. 1918 placed on docket. average jail sentence 152.6 days and average fine 199.59 dollars. Permanent padlock injunctions numbered 367 along with 148 forfeiture judgments.
