Mexican soldiers police and firemen resumed search for dead after flood ravaged Nogales. Ten people, nine men and one child, remain unaccounted for from more than 40 reported missing as four bodies are recovered and floodwaters spill toward the Santa Cruz river.
Stinnett Texas August 8 A D Payne Amarillo attorney near end of lengthy dictated statement to officers admitted placing a dynamite bomb in his car, killing his wife after five prior murder attempts. Officers report he confessed to morphine in a tonic for his wife an attempted drowning in a lake leaving a gas jet open and a loaded shotgun in reach. He asked to waive trial and be executed by electric chair.
Rainey Williams, an 18 year old Port Arthur Black man, was electrocuted at Huntsville state penitentiary at 12:09 a.m. after mobs tried three times to lynch him for an alleged assault on white women. At trial in Port Arthur two white girls identified him as the attacker.
Paris wrapped up the Autumn style shows with no bomb incidents. Buyers breathed easier as the event ended, noting only hems let out, waistlines raised, dull fabrics replacing shine, and a few new colors appearing.

Lieutenant Harold Bromley of Tacoma Washington and his co pilot Harold Gatty arrived at Yokohama on the President Lincoln after passport difficulties. They planned to confer with the American embassy and the ministry of communications in Tokyo about their trans Pacific flight from Tokyo to Tacoma and hoped to start within ten days.
The census bureau announced a continental United States population of 122,698,190 for 1930, up 16,987,570 from 1920. Including possessions and territories the total rises to 124,848,644, an increase of 17,339,809, though figures may be revised slightly.
