A car driven by Earl H Turner of Dayton Ohio collided with a Denver and Rio Grande Western train near Fountain Colorado killing four aboard. Victims were Beulah Ann Turner Jennie FR Turner and Mrs John Edward Turner all of Dayton. They were traveling back to Ohio from Santa Monica California after a visit with friends.
Mexico City August 4 Jose de Leon Toral's trial for the assassination of President-elect Oregon was tentatively fixed for August 16 in civil court. The prosecutor will seek the death penalty while Toral’s defense argues insanity citing paralysis and childhood illnesses.
Richard James a 17 year old Flushing High School student will try a continent spanning flight from San Francisco to New York before school starts in September to win a 1000 prize for the first boy or girl to make the hop. James has soloed 20 hours.
President Coolidge impressed with seven of nine on new lodge traps at Cedar Island near the Brule River. Col E W Starling, White House staff, scored slightly lower. The shoot followed earlier trout fishing by the president during the Wisconsin trip.
