The jury of 12 in Washington acquitted Harry F. Sinclair of conspiring to defraud the government in the Teapot Dome oil scandal after nearly two hours of deliberation. Sinclair showed little surprise, then wept with his wife, as fellow jurors described the panel as mostly grocers and clerks aged 22 to 58. Government lawyers reported doubtful chances of trial for remaining oil-indictment targets. Fall, a co defendant, is in poor health and unlikely to stand trial.
Hoover for president headquarters issued a statement claiming 750 of 960 delegates to the May Yakima convention. The claim said the Washington delegation would be assured if the figure held.

Fresno, Cal April 21 Two aviators died when their training plane crashed from 1000 feet two miles from the municipal airport. Pilot George Shaw of Los Angeles and E R Dustin of Berkeley a flying student were killed. The Beacon Airways Inc. training ship was wrecked and the bodies taken to a Fresno undertaking establishment awaiting inquest by Coroner J Herman Kennedy.
Chicago hosts delegates for the national league of women voters convention with a major issue whether to recognize prohibition in the program for the next two years. Mrs Moscoe Anderson of St Louis chairs a committee on advising the inclusion of prohibition study. Massachusetts delegates are expected to lead the push for a plank on the 18th amendment.
San Antonio Texas April 21 announcement of the engagement of Miss Margaret Lewis of San Antonio to Henry Beling Dupont Wilmington Delaware son of Mrs Henry Beling Dupont Philadelphia. Dupont is assistant treasurer of E I Dupont de Nemours and company.
Four year old William Whaley was killed when a large steel plate toppled onto him as he played at the Barnsdall Oil company plant in Los Angeles on April 21. The accident was reported by United Press.
United Press tally shows Governor Al Smith of New York with 360 of 478 Democratic delegates selected for the Houston convention, seven short of one third of the total. The report details instructed and uninstructed delegates from states and territories and compares Republican allocations.
Washington April 21 The House Flood Control Committee rejects parts of President Coolidge's compromise for Mississippi flood control. Republicans claim the president would veto the Jones Reid measure if amendments are not included, while Chairman Reed doubts a veto is likely.
The Commerce Department announced stringent aviation rules effective June 1. Private pilots must log ten hours solo flight and pass exams with at least 70 percent. Instructors must have 100 hours and acrobatic maneuvers are banned below 1500 feet. Flying on public streets remains prohibited.
