City officials announced a tentative check of protest petitions against Winslow's 76 block paving project found the petitions insufficient to constitute a valid protest. The final hearing is set for next Thursday April 2 with eliminations and inclusions to be decided.
Final agreement on the Winslow Long Valley road has been reached among Coconino County the state highway department the forest service and the Bureau of Public Roads. R B Walton secretary of the Winslow Chamber of Commerce said State Engineer W W Lane confirmed the accord after a spring conference and surveying for forest highway inclusion.
Easter sunrise ceremonies planned across the Christian world include the ninth annual sunrise service at Garden of the Gods Colorado Springs. BISBEE, Ariz April 19 AP One Mexican customs guard was killed and another wounded in a gunfight on the border highway between Agua Prieta and Naco Sonora at Lamorita. More than 50 shots were fired. A participant known only as Felix lay dead with eleven bullet wounds, five in the face.

Mrs. Liaura B. Mann, 40, died late yesterday from burns after her clothing soaked in gasoline caught fire in the yard. The husband reported finding her running in flames and an inquest was announced not to be held.
PHOENIX Ariz April 19 AP Licenses authorizing foreign corporations to operate in Arizona were issued by the state corporation commission to the Kalman Floor Company and the Fleischmann Corporation. Both are incorporated in Delaware. Neg Creighton named fiscal agent for the Kalman Floor Company and COW Freeman Jr for the Fleischmann Corporation.
Convicted in Maricopa county superior court of manslaughter in a fatal November wounding case, Louie R. Strickland and Harry C. Able filed an appeal with the state supreme court. They were sentenced to seven to ten years in the Florence state prison.

Five air mail sacks seized by robbers at Municipal airport Thursday night were recovered today on the Chicago and Western Indiana Railroad right of way on the city outskirts. The sacks had been looted.
